Old Bridge (Alte Brücke), Heidelberg, Germany
The current Old Bridge built in 1788 crosses the Neckar River. It is the ninth bridge on this spot. The first bridge here was built out of wood by the Roman in the first century. After it collapsed, there wasn’t another built until 1284 when the town was founded. The large tower on the side of the old city was part of the defense system and part of the city wall.
