Post Mill, Schleswig-Holstein Open Air Museum, Molfsee, Germany
This post mill was built in 1766. It is the oldest type of mill in Northern Europe. The tail pole or post was used to turn the mill, including the whole body with the wings, into the wind. It was difficult to move and gradually this type was replaced by the Dutch windmill which was easier to work. To see my best photos of Germany, please visit the Germany section of my portfolio
