Baroque Gardens, Schloss Gottorf, Schleswig, Germany
The Baroque Gardens are behind the castle. The 5-level, terraced Italianate style garden was the first of its kind in northern Europe. It was begun in 1637 and built in the baroque style with intricate designs made of vegetation. Fountains cascade from one level to the next. It was restored after WWII. .
